In Malaysia, IKEA started out in 1996 as a quaint home furnishing outlet unsuspectingly nestled inside a Bandar Utama shopping mall. Gaining substantial momentum, the little store that could eventually grew too big. In 2003, it moved to its own premises, the big blue store it currently calls home in Mutiara Damansara. It was the biggest IKEA store in Asia at that time.
Continuing its journey here, the upcoming store in Jalan Cochrane, Cheras will be the biggest yet in Malaysia with an overall store size that is 20 percent larger than IKEA Damansara.
